Estate & Business Planning Process

Smarter personal estate and business planning doesn't have to be complicated. That's why we keep it simple.

Strategy Session

STEP ONE

Schedule a meeting with our team. We'll go over the current state of your planning and any documents you may already have, as well as your overall goals. If you'd like to move forward with Schlau Rogers LLP as your counsel, you'll complete a client details form, which will expedite the Design Meeting.

Design Meeting

STEP TWO

In the Design Meeting, we'll discuss construction of your individually-tailored plan. Estate planning clients will focus on asset distribution, designating representatives to handle important decisions in the event you're incapacitated, and striking a balance between asset control and protection, among other topics. Business planning clients will focus on entity choice, formation and startup, as well as operations. At the end of the meeting, we’ll have the blueprint to your plan.

Signing

STEP THREE

After the Design Meeting, we’ll meet in person to review all of the documents that make up your new estate or business plan. Once we've reviewed your plan, we'll sign and notarize all the documents. We'll also discuss funding your trust, if applicable. If you'd like assistance with funding, we're happy to help.

Management and Maintenance

OPTIONAL

Once your plan is finalized, you'll have the option of enrolling in our Client Maintenance Program so you can focus on what's most important to you. As a member, you'll retain us as either estate or business planning counsel for ongoing individually-tailored guidance, service and support, as well as regular plan reviews and compliance with corporate formalities. We'll also coordinate with other advisors you may have and make sure your documents are secure and accessible.
